Melvin Clive Rushbrook was born in 1921 (Risbridge Q2 -1921 4A:1693) son of Stephen John and Florence Ethel RUSHBROOK (née PARTRIDGE). Risbridge is a registration district on the Haverhill side of Bury St Edmunds and so far exactly where he was born has not been found. In the 1939 register his parents were at 4 Council Houses, Honington. Father [30-1-1891] was a police constable; mother [22-7-1891]. One closed record. At probate, his address was given as County Police Station, Honington and administration to farmer John Donaldson THOMSON. CWGC have his parents as at Honington. |

He was captured by the Japanese on 15th February 1942 at the surrender of Singapore. His unit had arrived in Singapore on the USS "Mount Vernon" on 13th January 1942. He died on the Thailand-Burma Railway. His Japanese PoW card has not been found.
